How Cowboy works

An actor is an agent with its own wallet, schedule and files.

  • Its own wallet

It can fund itself, make and receive payments.

  • Its own schedule

It runs forever as long as it has funds, with no tab open. When it is not doing anything, it costs nothing.

  • Its own files

It remembers what it did yesterday, because its files come with it every run.

  • A line to you

It texts you on Telegram. You can talk to it on Slack or SMS too.

Hire what already works, and keep your keys

Each actor comes with its compute, sandbox, tools and workflow. Hire it on your keys. The seller never sees them, and you never see their code.

Every Store actor has been reviewed by Marshal.

Over 100 curated actors and 10,000 data feeds at launch.

Your data is yours

Even the developer who built the actor cannot see the data it runs on.

Every Store actor must pass review

Marshal reviews every actor before the Store approves it. Your hire runs exactly the code Marshal reviewed.

async def on_alert(alert): symbol = alert.symbol size = alert.size await exchange.buy(symbol, size) await owner.text("Filled") log.info("filled", size=size)

Unchecked alert sizes let the actor exceed the owner's trade limit. Ran an alert handler test with a size above the owner's limit. The actor passed that size to exchange.buy without a limit check, so the test expecting rejection failed.

  • Your instance uses your keys

A hire runs as your own instance, so your keys never leave it.

  • It connects only to named hosts

An actor can reach only the hosts listed in its manifest.

  • Your files are encrypted

Private files have their own encryption key. Secrets live in a threshold store. Neither the developer nor Cowboy can see your data.

Build from your coding agent

Work with your existing tools, like Claude Code and Codex, using the Cowboy CLI.
